Rockne Relayers (Considered an Association in Rockne, Texas)
The Rockne Relayers are a team that we should all be proud of...a team that should be in the books forever as an association of Rockne. This team raised around a Quarter of a Million Dollars in their 10 year life span. They've also won substantial awards and recognition from the cancer society, all with the support of the members of the community and their dedication of hard work.  It's amazing how big the hearts are in Rockne, the team and community members both deserve a special spot to reflect upon all the success and special memories of the Rockne Relayers. Click on the title above to view their facebook page with past pictures and be sure to read the excerpt below posted in the Smithville Times by LeeAnn Lee, with the biggest smile on your face thinking about how proud you are of your community.

Rockne Relayers

It was an emotional time for Delena Meuth and the Rockne Relayers last Monday, June 11, at the wrap-up party for the 2012 Bastrop/ Smithville Relay For Life. The event took place at the Bastrop Boot Company. Meuth headed up the Relay For Life committee this year and she, along with Melissa Voigt, were founding members of the Rockne Relayers. The team achieved “Emerald Status” and won the “Most Funds Raised by an Adult Team” award this year by raising a total of $29,952.31. Since this is the last year the Rockne Relayers will be involved in Relay For Life, Meuth was tearful as she thanked her team and explained to the crowd that the group will continue to raise money for those fighting illness or injury, but on an individual, local level.

“We will continue to do what we do,” Meuth said, “but this is a closing to a chapter in my life that was very significant to me.”

Besides Meuth, the members of the Rockne Relayers are team captain Melissa Voigt, Sherrie Jenkins, Dovie Wolf, Kim Saegert, Jason Keating, Susan Catchings, Kathy Carriger, Deborah Morkovsky, Candi Wilson, Allison Allen and Mark Meuth.

As an added treat, local Rockne musicians Herman Goertz, Mark Lee and David Rainwater played for the event before and after the awards were announced.

We would love to support more associations in the area, please be sure to send any information to the RWT!
